Featured Designer: Al Tucci

Al Tucci, a graduate of the Goodman School of Drama at the Art Institute of Chicago Received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago, Tucci went on to have a 38 year career in professional theatre training and as a freelance United Scenic Artist Union designer.

Al Tucci’s theatrical work has been in the area of costume design where he found working with character development through clothing to be challenging and exciting. Tucci has designed museum exhibitions and gallery installations that have focused on clothing, fashion, and theatrical design. As a member of the Southern Arizona Art’s Guild (SAAG) and the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild (SAWG) his work has been shown at the Southern Arizona Art’s Guild Gallery, the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild Gallery, Tucson Sheraton Hotel, Jane Hamilton Gallery, Carol Curry Gallery, the Milwaukee Art Museum, and the West Virginia State Museum. He works primarily in gouache (opaque watercolor).

TFW Video: Esteban Celaya Osuna Jr.

Esteban's collection was featured on the first night of Tucson Fashion Week 2013. A student at the Art Institute of Tucson, Esteban channels his creativity into intricate designs whose textures, colors, and detail speak to a tradition of craftsmanship that has been a part of his family for generations. We're happy to announce that Designer Applications are now available for Tucson Fashion Week 2014. TFW is an incredible annual event that provides an opportunity for designers and brands to showcase their work to consumers, buyers, and industry leaders in a professional and vibrant setting .

Participating in platforms like TFW that showcase their work and encourage designers to challenge themselves creatively is an important part of any designer's growth. At Tucson Fashion Week, designers will also have the unique opportunity to show their designs on the same runways as seasoned professionals. Fashion presentations are also an integral part of this event. Presentations are such an important part of fashion. They create an intimacy not found on the runway and they also help designers to expand their ideas of how to showcase their collections. Presentations capture the true heart of fashion, a partnership between the arts, setting, music, and of course, design. Bringing these elements together to make a cohesive presentation is in and of itself a piece of art.

1. Inspired Icon Betsey Johnson’s runway capsule collection attendance at the  main runway event.

2. Over 1500 people attended all three days' events, featuring people from Arizona, Mexico, New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
