Street Style with TFW 04.11.14

Matt Sawyer's outfit is a bold mixture of textures in neutral colors with a few rugged accessories thrown in. We love the slight hint of retro flair in his tough outfit.

Jacob Woodside's outfit is a perfect example of Tucson style. A couple of perfectly worn in basics like his black jeans and plaid top, made memorable by a few well placed accessories like his silver ring, watch, and a pair of sunglasses we're immediately coveting.

April Blogger of the Month

We are so excited to announce our Blogger of the Month for April. Sydney Ballesteros of Golden Girl of the West is a stylist and blogger with a sense of style deeply connected to her sense of place. We fell in love with her elegant outfits, and the way the pictures on her blog tie her style together perfectly with her Tucson surroundings.

Sydney: These outfits were styled with the homage to Tucson, my desert hometown. I love pulling inspiration from the elements and culture of the southwest and the desert. I like to refer to this style as "desert chic.” It’s about mixing these large statement pieces with minimal ones, much like the way the southwest is rooted in its natural beauty.

The De Grazia gallery is one of my favorite places to connect with the quietness of the desert, gather my thoughts and find my inspiration. It is such a simple, minimal place, yet filled with so much energy to connect with.

The Chase bank is the perfect architectural setting for desert chic. It’s mid-century modern lines and clean, crisp white backdrop are reminiscent of Palm Springs, and the perfect example of how the desert can fit into this style approach. The cut of the simple green dress blend into the background of native plants and the silver jewelry and accessories bring out the best of the modernists era lines.

Street Style with TFW 02.28.14

Adilene Barrios' cute denim dress pairs perfectly with her amazing, two-toned pointy flats. We have some serious shoe envy.

Natalie S. Dailey's brown leather tote and boots add a rugged edge to her colorful floral print midi skirt.

Shu Zhen Fang's outfit has so many things that we love -- her gold fringe necklace and black crop top, and those adorable heart print tights. We want it all.

We love Bethany Royer's mixed prints and cute mocassins!

Andres Navarro's outfit is effortlessly stylish -- simple basics with truly great accessories.

Jasmine Garner also makes her outfit special with the accessories. Her black-and-white graphic scarf and brown leather oxfords, and cute white bow jazz up a simple shorts, tights, and top.

Retailer Spotlight: Goldie's at La Encantada

With their charming displays and stylish clothes, Goldie's at La Encantada is a great place to spend some time on any shopping trip. This locally owned boutique sells clothing and accessories for men, women and children, as well as some truly adorable children's toys. Inspired by her grandmother's store in Aspen, CO, owner Emmy Marshall opened her own Goldie's here in Tucson four months ago. We especially loved the Free People dress, worn above.

Tucson Gem Show

The Tucson Gem Show takes place over two weeks in February. We headed to the 22nd Street Gem and Mineral Show on Saturday and spent some time looking at all the beautiful gems and fabulous jewelry. Different artists and vendors had booths set up all along the length of the show's huge tent, full of interesting jewelry pieces, delightfully carved stones, rows and rows of sparkling beads, and other beautiful things. Be sure to check out some of the many shows throughout Tucson, as well as the main Tucson Gem and Mineral Show at the Tucson Convention Center on February 13-16th.
